Welcome to Troop 288, Boy Scouts of America (BSA).  Our troop is part of the Foothills District in the Verdugo Hills Council.  We are proud to be chartered by the American Legion Post 288, located at 4011 La Crescenta Avenue, La Crescenta, CA.  Our meetings are held every Tuesday at 6:50 - 8:30 p.m.

Troop 288's goal is to create and maintain a great scouting experience for our developing Scouts.  We are committed to providing a program of basic scout skills, outdoor activities, community service, and friendship building.  Scouting promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem.  We emphasize FUN activities aimed at building good character, citizenship, moral responsibility and physical & mental fitness.  Our Troop is "Scout-Led" meaning the boys are in charge, but guided by adults.  Our Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters provide guidance, lead Treks, and work with the scouts to ensure a quality program.  The Troop Committee functions as an administration, and provides support to the troop.  We encourage all parents to become involved in the scouting program as assistant scoutmasters, trek leaders, merit badge counselors, and committee members.  Parents are always welcome to participate in any of our activities.

Scouting is Year-Round Fun ... Join the Adventure!

Participating in camping trips, hikes, and other outdoor activities ... Scouts learn basic outdoor skills from cooking to first aid.  They develop leadership and social skills with their peers while attending weekly troop meetings.  They understand the meaning of hard work and commitment after taking part in a service project within the community.
The activities available in Boy Scouts are endless, designed to build character, leadership and personal values.

Choosing the right Boy Scout troop for you is an individual decision.  You need to think about what will make scouting a fun, rewarding experience and then find a troop that best fulfills your interest.  Families are encouraged to visit several troops to learn the uniqueness of each, going to a meeting and looking at the annual event calendar will help you find the best troop for you.
