The Pack participates in the Council Popcorn Sale. The sale kicks off in September and is over by mid-October with delivery in November just before Thanksgiving. We get almost our entire operating budget from this sale. The Pack dues go mostly towards registration/insurance fees (as well as Boy's Life subscriptions).
The Pack takes orders from each boy (take orders) as well as selling at different locations (show and sells). The biggest show and sell is one weekend where the Pack sells after each mass at our sponsoring organization (St. Joseph's Church).
The average price of an item is $17. Depending upon sales goals and other incentives the Pack earns between 35% and 42% commission. Only about 40% of the sales price goes back to the manufacturer, the remainder (18% to 25%) goes to the Council and District.
